Metacognition, the awareness and regulation of one’s own learning processes, is pivotal in fostering effective learning strategies, which is one of the skills emphasised in cross curricular outcomes. By understanding how students think about their thinking, teachers can better guide them to become autonomous and more effective learners. This presentation will highlight the importance of metacognitive skills in the EFL classroom, where students often face unique challenges.
The presenter will share practical learning strategies that can be seamlessly integrated into EFL teaching practices. These strategies aim to help students plan, monitor, and evaluate their learning, thereby improving their language acquisition and overall academic performance. Teachers will get ideas how to apply these techniques to encourage self-reflection and adaptive learning among students.
